Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing

This was a fast but tough read, particularly since I finished an 11-month binge of the series just a week before this library book came in.

Perry does a great job interweaving the first-person narratives of his various near-death experiences, with a vivid re-telling of his success and encounters. He connects various issues with the seasons of Friends, which make a haunting retrospective.

His transparency about what happens in rehab is unsettling but necessary and poignant. Perry gives a brave and rare perspective inside functioning addiction, from the motivations to the heartbreak.
