Saint

Fair warning: I’m biased. I love this series, rating the first two books with five and four stars. It’s probably because of that I was a little afraid to start this one. What if the story falls flat? What if the Saint in this version doesn’t line up with the Saint I already met.

But Young puts all my fears to rest. This sea tale is just as enchanting and vivid as the first two, and filled in the gaps left behind the first/latter part of the story. You can smell the salt air, the murky streets of the back allies, feel the force of the storms on the tattered old ship.

The story of Isolde and Saint paves the way for the dynamic Fable and West, as we root for the unlikely pairing while still anticipating the sadness that has to occur.

Beautiful. Haunting. Hopeful.
Just read it.

PS The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five, is that I worry it doesn’t stand alone and remain as strong.
