I admit, I’ve been saving this last installment of the Savoie sisters for months, because – well – I didn’t want the series to be over.
But last week was a WEEK, and when I woke up in the middle of the night, I knew it was time to finally read the story of Henry Blackwater and Clara Savoie. I didn’t think Grumpy/Sunshine was one of my tropes but APPARENTLY, it is.
Juliette has done a phenomenal job making Grims fascinating – to the point where one wonders why they’re not a supernatural group talked about more often. Not only that, Henry’s a necromancer who’s turned his back on his talents. Meanwhile, Clara – our sunshine of an Aura, is written with so much confidence and sass, that you realize you’ve been rooting for her for six whole books.
There’s slow burn, intense spice, and a plot with a twist that takes your breath away. Did the scenes at the end leave me teary and warm? Yes. Did Juliette deserve to write them after this stunning series? Also, yes. This will 100% be a fun re-read for me when I need some time with some old friends.
