The Hanging City

5/5

A girl on the run from her power-hungry father. Powers that cause fear. A hidden village of trolls. Forbidden love. Impossible choices.

Holmberg’s stand-alone The Hanging City captures your heart quickly, with her characters and a unique setting, with a magical species not given much credit in many series. Holmberg’s constants: vivid world-building, realistic characters with complex emotions, and anti-heroes are all alive and well in this story.

I truthfully couldn’t anticipate any of the twists and turns in this book, and while I’m curious as to the next part of the story, it’s honestly refreshing to know I’m not committing to a series. A lovely story with a beginning, middle and end.

Hi! I’m Adrienne. I really love reading books – it doesn’t matter if it’s a classic novel on a rainy day or the latest bestseller while lying in the sun. I also really enjoy sharing my thoughts about books with others. This is why I write book reviews, to help fellow book lovers find their next great read.
